Professional life and motivation:

Hey there! I’m Vebjørn Høyland, a Senior Security Consultant at Move AS, and I’m extremely passionate about Security across computers, servers, the cloud and whatever else I find on my path.
Because both me and my customers and previous employers are Norwegian, I have a special interest in providing Small-Medium businesses with guidance and tooling to be able to protect themselves and their data in an ever evolving threat landscape. Also commonly known as “getting rid of old stuff”, or “modernising” if you will.

My mantra is: 
IT Security can be improved VASTLY with tactical modifications and prioritised effort, and not necessarily costly licences.

This is (hopefully) what I can offer you in my blog. Smart and simple guides to solve security issues in a cost effective manner. And sometimes effort can be replaced with products… Pick your flavour!
In terms of writing style i like to keep it casual and entertaining as to not get to generic and “sales-y”. It also makes sharing and learning a bit more fun in my opinion.

Experience:
I come from a practical IT-sysadmin background but quickly focused in on Security as an area I wanted to really delve into. 

I was lucky enough to find a school that had IT Security as a subject and ended up finishing it off with a Bachelors in Computer Security from the University of South Wales!

While I studied I also worked part-time with Microsoft products mainly, and ended up learning a lot about the Microsoft security stack just as it was beginning to become really powerful.

Ive since then build on top of that with many certifications at my current employer Move AS, and really enjoy my work, my customers and my colleagues! I am also part of the Incident Response Team at Move AS.

I am also trying to learn how WordPress works – so sorry in advance for the layout while I build some knowledge. Hopefully my blog will be prettier in the future!

Personal life:
In my daily life I am very passionate about Rock and Metal music! You’ll often find me at festivals or concerts in the Oslo area! I can also create sounds on several instruments, but let’s just say i am not exactly “certified” in any of them anymore…

Im originally from a small town in western Norway, with lots of beautiful nature. Sometimes I long back, but where I am in my life right now I just can’t pass on the cultural offerings that Oslo provides!
